Oct 25, 2010 -- Happy Halloween!

ok.... during the week i write down things and thoughts that i can share with you in my emails. Things i need, funny stories ect... but i left it at our appartment today, and so i dont have it with me... so i cant remember what i wanted to share with you. but lets see what i can remember.....

The biggest thing i can talk about is the food.... My first few weeks i didnt really eat much, one good meal a day, and then probably a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or just bread. Then one sunday, one of the members that i met on my first day here told me that im losing too much weight.... so of course they spread the word, and sure enough we got a calender of meals to eat with members every day. The calender is completely full until after new years. Now our eating experiances are terrible! Ill tell you about one day in particular that was really bad.

So, this was last saturday, we had a lunch appointment, a dinner appointment, and lessons in between. So lunch was fine, but they gave us a three course meel that left us really full. But we werent too worried because dinner was still a few hours away. then at our investigators house right after lunch, they served us a big plate of Lasagna and then dessert.... i was sweating so much. it was painful to eat it. But we both finished. Right after we left, Elder Bourdon had me pull over and he threw up. That wasnt the end though, when we got to our next rendez-vous, of course they had a plate full of food waiting for us... we tried to tell them very politely that we had already eaten, but the lady insisted that we eat..... so we did. And then of course we got more dessert....
It was the worst experiance of my life. but eventually we finished. and right after we taught our lesson and left, Elder Bourdon threw up again.

Then we had Dinner.. Again, another terrible moment for the two of us. i couldnt do it though.... i ate alot of it, but i couldn finish. i felt bad, but im only human. they were members so they understood, and let me take my food home to eat later. And again, afterwards elder bourdon threw up again. It was a terrible day for the both of us. I could easily say that this day was the hardest one on my mission so far. Ive never prayed so much in my life as i sat there with all those plates of food in front of me. I was praying for the room to finish everything, and not throw up.

Another day we went for a dinner appointment, and they fed us heart... Cow heart, and a lot of little tiny chicken hearts. Elder Bourdon couldnt do it. They didnt taste bad, but you could still see the veins on the hearts, and all of the arteries and tubes and openings.... At first Elder Bourdon tried swallowing them whole, but that didnt work. so he just ended up sneaking them all into his pocket while noone was looking. You know me though, i can eat whatever... i didnt really enjoy it though, but it wasnt bad.

Ok so about my district, theres 8 of us. Brother and Sister Giles are a Senior couple that served as the mission president in Tahiti a couple years ago, then we have Soeur Lindsey and Davis, From virginia and Orem, then The Zone leaders Elder De la Torre and Coronado from California and Las Vegas, and then Elder Bourdon and me. Then theres another District in our zone with 6 people. Elder Mendoza and Mongillo; Mendoza was in my MTC district, and mongillo is from Switzerland, or rather he grew up there because his dad is in the UN, but heis from the US. then theres Soeur Leonard and rodriguez; Rodriguez was also in my MTC district and Leonard is from Belgium. Then Elder Eslick and Erickson, Eslick is from Fresno and you know Erickson! Were all on the Island so we all see each other several times a week and we all hang out together for P-days. Its fun. Every week we go and see different parts of Montreal. Last week we went to the St joseph Basilika, and the week before we went to old Montreal where they have their own Notre Dame, and today we went to le Jardin Boutanique. So its always fun.

Ok before i forget, i tried to use the visa card the other day, but the card wouldnt work. it wont even work at the ATM. Elder Mendoza said that for his card, he had to call the bank and have them unlock it so he could use it outside of the country. I dont know what the deal is, but if you could check that for me it would be awesome. Let me know, because i cant use it at all until this is fixed. The card worked fine in the MTC, but ive never been able to succesfully use it here in Canada.

Well i have to go, the Zone leaders want to make a music video in the metros with some guitars and keyboards that we found in the mission storage unit. We got permission to take them so we wanted to make good use of them. If everything works out, ill send you a copy of the video.

Anyway, i got mamis letter with all the leaves in it... thanks for the big mess, it was nice. And i got Emilys letter the same day. But i havent responded yet. I had to write to Erick this week for his birthday, and to Annie and Danielle who wrote to me first. But ill write back as soon as i have time.

I love everyone, i hope things are going well. A big hug and Happy birthday to Erick. I hope everyone has tons of fun on Halloween. Be safe! youll hear from me soon
