Hello! So, on Saturday we got our transfer calls. I'm finally staying in an area for more than one transfer! And, im staying with Elder De Sousa too. It's good because i like this area alot. I've gotten really close to the members of the ward, and all of the people we are teaching. It's nice too because this next transfer ends in March and that means we'll be here to see the youth of Victoria leave on their Missions. One's going to Florida, one is going to Washington DC, another is going to Argentina, and another to Uruguay. Its so much fun being with all of them as they get ready to leave for their missions. And there are three more that just put their papers in to go.
I like being with Elder De Sousa, we get along great. You keep asking me to tell you more about him, but i dont know what else to tell you about him. He's from Toulouse, France. He's 21. He's exactly how i imagined a french person to be like. What i mean by that is that he loves to eat cheese, and chocolate. Actually he just loves candy in general, but mostly chocolate. He always talks to me about cheese too, He told me that the worse the cheese smells, the better it tastes. He's very proud to be French too. He teaches me about all of the Cheeses that come from france, and how great they are. He also tell me that, although he doesnt drink wine, that there's nothing in the world that can compete with French Wine.
What else.... he cant say the word "squirrel" in english, he cant say the word "sheets" without making it sound like a bad word. His Spanish and his English are improving alot though. This week he learned how to say "heater" and "that's what i'm talking about!" He also learned what it means to "get to know someone." That last one was actually a hard one to explain.
Anyway, that's Elder De Sousa and we'll be together for at least another transfer.
I had an interesting encounter with the police this last week. Actually it was last night. So remember Amanda? the one i told you about? Well she called us last night and asked us to come over because her mom had agreed to sign the consent to let her get baptised. So went to their house after another rendez-vous we had. But before we had gotten their, the mom's boyfriend had showed up. This guy really doesnt like us because he doesnt want Amanda getting baptized. The thing is he wants to take control of the family but he's doing it in the worst possible way. So when we went over last night, this guy wouldnt even let us come in the house, and then everything went from bad to worse. The family was trying to let us in and the guy trying to kick us out. To make a long story short, This guy punched me and so then some of the sisters started hitting this guy, for hitting me. And the only reason Elder De sousa and i stayed was because we were trying to get the younger girls out of all of this. As all this was happing the mom, i think, called the police. One of the girls was taken to the hospital. The other girls pressed charges on this guy, and the guy decided to press charges on the girls and us. And to give this whole crazy evening a bit of humor, the boyfriend found a giant cross, and he came and tried to do an exorcism on Elder De Sousa and I. He kept saying "get out Satan, get out Devil!"
The police talked to us, and after we finished explaining to her the situation, she said " I know who you guys are, i'm glad you were around to keep things from getting any worse." The officer ripped the paper that the boyfriend had filled out, and told us that all charges are dropped.
Thats it. That was pretty much the highlight of my whole week. Other than that, i did get a package from you guys. I haven't worn the watch because its too big and i have to take it someplace to get some of the links taken off, and i just simply have not found the time to do that. But i liked the watch it's nice. Also Say thanks to Erick's friends that sent me letters. Also, thanks for the Oreos. the oreos here taste different. In fact there are alot of things here that taste different than the ones they sell in the USA. The Oreos here taste like the no-name brand that you would buy in the US. Their not bad, but they are deffinitely not the Oreos that we all know and love. Kit-Kat's taste different here too, but i actually like them better here than in the US. What else?.... Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper taste different too. I havent actually tried either of them since i've been here, but thats what people tell me. Everything made by Nabisco also tastes different. Like Ritz crackers for example. They are ok, but not as good.
Finally, tell abuela that i do get her emails, and i appreciate them, i just havent been able to respond.
OK, i love you very much, and i'll talk to you next week.! I have to go do Laundry....yay....
Let me know if there's anything i can do for you!
Love
Elder Meza
